Environmental Scan Workshop

A group of 58 teachers, parents, staff and a school board representative met for just over 3 hours to begin the process of creating the key structures of the Education Leadership System™ (ELS) : Strategic Roadmap, Scorecards, School Improvement Plans and Monitoring Reports.

To begin the process, the Administrative Team organized and shared key reports and data with regard to:
· Student learning and development
· Academic and extra-curricular programming
· Finances and Facilities
· Demographics and Enrollment

In the process, teams of the group focused on differing “views” of the current reality utilizing the Four Color View FrameWork™: Established, Disappearing, Emerging and Edge. After group discussions and development of key characteristics of the current reality, the group as a whole developed a listing of Key Trends and Influences acting upon the community and the school district. In addition, the group was asked to voice individual insights as to the implications of such assessment on the Strategic Roadmap development process:

· New perspective, inclusive definition of diversity
· Pragmatism re: limitations $
· Serving Special Ed- to- Advances Placement, across continuum
· Purchase & training of technology
· Build on District 742 assets/values and what works well
· Ongoing support & training

The results from the workshop regarding the input and Key Trends and Influences are detailed and will be shared. This is a very valuable step in preparing ourselves to be driven by our vision, mission and core values.
